Steps for applying to an Autism Class 

To apply for an autism class, first notify the NCSE through the "Parents Notify" online portal to receive an eligibility letter. Next, submit a completed application form to your chosen school (or a central application system like D15 ACAT) by the deadline, including the eligibility letter and all required documents like psychological reports. For support or to find your local Special Educational Needs Organiser (SENO), consult the NCSE website. 
Step 1: Notify the NCSE 

• Visit the NCSE website and use the "Parents Notify" online portal.
• This step is required to get an eligibility letter, which must accompany your application.
• Be sure to do this by the specified deadline, for example, October 1st, 2025, for the 2026/27 school year. 

Step 2: Apply to the school

• Find the specific application form on the school's website or through a central application system (like D15 ACAT).
• Complete the application form with all necessary information.
• Submit the form with all supporting documents, such as:
  • The eligibility letter from the NCSE
  • Psychological reports
  • Birth certificate
  • Two proof-of-address documents 

Step 3: Get further support

• Contact your local Special Educational Needs Organiser (SENO) for support and to discuss placement options.
