We have an Amber Flag at St. Joseph's JNS!
Amber Flag 2020/2021We are currently working towards our 4th Amber Flag here at St Joseph's Junior School in Ballymun. Our first Amber Flag was earned in 2018 and we have maintained our status each year since then.
The Amber Flag is a flag that is awarded to schools who make a special effort to foster and promote a healthy and inclusive environment that supports mental well-being. |
Our Amber Flag Committee 2021
Our committee usually consists of students from each class, but this year we had to keep the committee within the same bubble! We have students from Rachel's and Rosemary's Junior Infants working on the Amber Flag this year, but really the whole school community work tirelessly every day to promote well-being for all!

Our Amber Flag Goals 2020/2021
Goal 1: Host a Well-Being Day 16th March 2021
Our well-being day was fantastic. We picked a day to celebrate all of the amazing things that we do to help ourselves feel healthy, happy and included. We had a school assembly all about well-being. We wore our own clothes to celebrate our individuality. We did lots of fun activities like Yoga, gardening, stories, disco dances and trips to the local park! Take a look at our pictures of the day here!
Goal 2: New Yard Installations for Outdoor Play and Gardening
We are very lucky to get such beautiful new installations in our outdoor play areas at school. We have new outdoor play equipment such as a climbing wall, a balance beam and play tunnels. We also got a new rainbow buddy bench and rainbow flower boxes. We were delighted to get new outdoor shelters in our playground so that we can play outdoors, even on rainy days! We have new bike and scooter racks coming soon and we have also been granted 'School Zone' status from Dublin City Council, meaning we will have a safer environment when travelling to school. Take a look at our outdoor play spaces!
